Seek New Adventures in San Miguel de Allende
This new year has all of us at RDEE feeling adventurous and ready for new experiences. While there are many cities we love returning to over, and over again, there is something special about exploring a brand new location for the first time. Last month, Rachelle was lucky enough to have a new travel experience of her own in San Miguel de Allende. Let’s hear about her trip to this beautiful city.
What brought you to San Miguel de Allende?
This past year has been full of belated birthday celebrations, and most travelers have wanted to think outside of the box. For example, one of my lifelong friends wanted to go to Mexico, but wanted something other than our staples – Cabo and Tulum. After finding a lot of incredible reviews during our extensive research, we finally landed on San Miguel de Allende.
What are the different hotels/accommodations you would recommend in San Miguel de Allende?
We had a large group of ten people, so we opted for a large house about a ten minute drive from town. Hacienda Cielo was stunning, with nine rooms spread throughout the villa. Additionally, Hacienda Cielo is full service, so we were able to coordinate yoga, massages, breakfast, dinner, drivers, and excursions very easily.

What types of events would you recommend in San Miguel de Allende?
I think that San Miguel is the perfect location for a girls getaway, romantic weekend, birthdays, and small corporate or wellness retreats.
The city itself is very walkable, but hiring a taxi or Uber is also very accessible.
What are some of the restaurants you recommend in San Miguel de Allende?
WOW WOW WOW! The food was phenomenal from the street vendors to the restaurants. We had a chef cook for us the first night but made our way to:
What makes San Miguel de Allende special?
The architecture is outstanding and there is beautiful artwork everywhere you turn. Additionally – HATS! There are amazing hats everywhere you go, and they are some of the highest quality I have ever seen. I purchased one and it took everything in me not to buy five more.
Anything else you want to tell us about San Miguel de Allende?
Coyote Canyon Adventures is an incredible company that offers an amazing variety of excursions, and we opted for their horseback riding tour. This was, by far, the highlight of 2022 for me, as this was a ride unlike any other. There was one cowboy dedicated to every rider and they guided us through the canyon and over cliffs. Next, they showed us how to gallop, which was such a rush of excitement. To top it all off, they filmed us on a drone, which had the makings of a country western film. I cannot recommend enough!!
